New Financial Systems
Hitting Their Stride
In the three months since UC Merced flipped the switch on several new or relocated financial systems, we’ve learned a lot about their real-world functionalities and about each other.
Our implementation teams have gone successfully through two cycles of month’s-end accounting, implemented numerous enhancements, fixed defects and bugs, and continue to define our business processes. But it’s not over; the learning continues.
We have held virtual office hours, posted enhanced how-to videos and added step-by-step guides. These have helped the campus community get a handle on Oracle Financials, Concur, GLACIER and the Effort Reporting System. These tools are used for accounting, procurement, travel and reimbursement, budgeting, taxes, and tracking research funding.
The Go-Live Toolkit will continue to be an important source for training, tip, login information and other resources. In addition, the DFA Service Catalog has been very active, with teams processing ServiceNow requests from across campus.
The new systems’ capabilities are scalable and prepared to support us as the campus continues to grow and mature. Working together, we will leverage the new systems to amplify the university’s mission of research and education.
CBS2 Website Built for Service
A fresh, new website for the Center for Business Services and Solutions (CBS2) launched in February. CBS2 provides administrative assistance for campus in the areas of procurement, travel and entertainment, finance, and human resources.
CBS2 builds on the services established in 2015 with the Administrative Coordination Team, facilitating efficiencies that benefit the entire campus.
The website is your one-stop shop for service requests and agreements, forms and answers to frequently asked questions.
New Site Design Enhances ‘Gateway’ to UC Merced
One of the nation’s most dynamic research universities deserves a digital “front door” that escorts visitors to the innovative yet down-to-earth features that make UC Merced unique. And now it has one.
In March, the Marketing Department’s web design team unveiled a new look for the university’s flagship address on the World Wide Web: ucmerced.edu. Some high points:
• A cleaner all-around look, whether you’re visiting with a desktop, tablet or mobile device • Faster navigation and responses, thanks to improvements to back-end code • A new menu for mobile users • A new search-and-display feature for articles about campus research
